Hunting tours  

KOLYMA-TRAVEL  Company offers you to take part in trophy animal hunting in the vast expanses of Northern Siberia. For one-two weeks  you could turn into one of the earliest explorers, miles from civilization. Along with hunting you will have the opportunity to hunt migrating birds, fish in the Sea of Okhotsk and clear rivers of the north in Eastern Siberia. Here you will meet the trophies of northern hunts - the brown bear, snow sheep and giant moose, reindeer.

The duration of the tour averages 8-14 days.

• Usually hunters will be at the camp at the day of their arrival to Magadan or the next day (depending on the flight timetable and weather conditions) with the exception of the beforehand discussed situations.
  We recommend you to inform us what equipment you will bring to Magadan in advance. It is possible to purchase the equipment at our store. We could carry clothes and footwear. Just indicate your sizes.
  Skinning and photographing of a trophy will be provided by the guides. Also, we arrange veterinary documentation for trophy exportation.
  Trophies will be processed according to agreements of the taxidermist with the special requirements of our guests. For example, dorsal bear skinning for preparing a standing trophy.
• Communication by satellite phone with main office in Magadan is carried out everyday.
  During the moose hunt, it is possible to go hunting for bear and bird hunting for the elusive black-billed capercaize.
  It is possible to have hunting tour at the same time for different trophies: for example - snow sheep, brown bear, snow and reindeer.

BROWN  BEAR HUNT

Duration  - 10 - 12 days

Spring bear hunts can be organized by several means:

- Walking -   is carried out at a distance not more than 15 km from the main camp taking in consideration the physical condition and desires of the hunter. Every day the hunter and the guide walk around the lands where trophy animals can be found, with the field glasses. When the animal is found the guide consults the hunter about the approximate sizes of the animal and helps to get it, after the guide cuts the animal and takes the trophy (scull and the skin) back to the camp.

- Hunt by snowmobiles -  the maximal remoteness is about 25-30 km. Snowmobiles go  about 100- 150 km per day.

- Coast hunt by motor boats -  transportation is carried out by motor boats (Zodiac class with Yamaha - 50  jet), 

the guide communicates with the boat guide via satellite phone to indicate when to come ashore. As a rule the hunter and his guide take  e a portable two men tent, sleeping bags and a gas stove. In such a way more area can be covered to bag a trophy.

The hunter and his guide go ashore to the place where they will possibly encounter an animal (as a rule, they take a 2 seat tent, sleeping bags and a gas stove). After time, they are picked up.

As a result, the success rate to get a big game goes up.   

Accommodation in tent camps with generator and tent banya (sauna).

DAILY TOUR DESCRIPTION
OPTIMAL TOUR LENGTH - 10-12 DAYS

1^st day: Arrival at the airport in Magadan. Instruction and discussion of safety rules. Departure to the lodge by Miyogan Eight (MI-8) helicopter,

vessel, motor boat or vehicle depending on the type of tour. Acquaintance with the personnel. Hunting area and hunting instructions. Familiarization, sighting, shooting and testing weapons instruction.

Introducing guides, distribution of maps and hunting areas.   

2d  - 3d days: Breakfast. Distribution of hunting directions for the day. Lunch will be served in the field. Return to the camp. Supper. Discussion of results with a guide and a supervisor.

4^th - 10^th  days: The following days are like the second and third. In case of an unsuccessful hunt, the evening of the fourth or seventh day will be used to move the base camp to a different area. The supervisor could make another decision after discussion with the hunters. All decisions will be communicated with the KOLYMA-TRAVEL office in Magadan before the end of the evening. In the morning of the 5^th  or 8^th  days, the base camp will be transferred to another site.

11^th  day: After breakfast, final preservation of trophies and packing will be completed. Hunters will depart for Magadan.   Accommodation in the hotel.

12^th day: Transfer to the airport. 

MООSE  HUNT

• The duration of the tour is about 14 days.
• All the equipment, guides and the staff are taken to the places of hunt beforehand to prepare the main camp for hunters.
• After the hunters come to Magadan they go by bus/car to Seymchan or Omsukchan villages (500 km way). It will depend on the helicopter/plane location.
• From Seymchan or Omsukchan villages hunters go by helicopter or plane (in case of good weather conditions) to Omolon village or other settlement (it depends on the weather) . Motor boat transfer to the place of hunt, fishing, overnight in the transit tent camp on the river bank. Next day motorboat transfer to the place of hunt, arrival in the main camp, preparation for the hunt.

The Hunt

Moose hunt is conducted by walking from the main camp or a spike camp and using a motorboat with an outboard motor. 

Accommodation in main camps, tent camps with a generator and a sauna,

and spike camps.

- Riffle and ammunition permits

DAILY TOUR DESCRIPTION

2d Day.  From Seymchan or Omsukchan villages hunters go by helicopter or plane (in case of good weather conditions) to Omolon village or other nearest settlement (it depends on the weather). Motor boat transfer to the place of hunt, fishing, overnight in the transit tent camp on the riverbank;

3d Day. Motorboat transfer to the place of hunt, arrival in the main camp, preparation for the hunt;

4-11 Day. Hunt

If there is a necessity to correct tour program of some days, it will be discussed with our clients.

12 Day. Preparation for departure.Final preservation of trophies and packing. Motor boat transfer to Omolon village or other nearest settlement (it depends on the weather), accommodation in the hotel;

13 Day. Helicopter/plane transfer toSeymchan or Omsukchan villages. Bus/car transfer to Magadan, accommodation in the hotel;

14 Day. Departure for Moscow.

SNOWSHIP HUNT

• The duration of the tour is 10-14 days.
• After the hunters come to Magadan they go by bus/car to the helicopter pad in Magadan, Seymchan or Omsukchan villages (550 km way). It will depend on the helicopter location and the place of hunt.
• From Magadan, Seymchan or Omsukchan villages hunters go by helicopter (in case of good weather conditions) to the place of hunt and are distributed to spike camps (with the exception of the beforehand discussed situations and the periods of hunt).
• We recommend you to inform us what equipment you will bring to Magadan in advance. It is possible to purchase the equipment at our store. We could carry clothes and footwear. Just indicate your sizes.
• Skinning and photographing of a trophy will be provided by the guides. Also we arrange veterinary documentation for trophy exportation.

Snow ship hunt is conducted by walking from the main camp or spike camp depending on the tour conditions. Accommodation is in the tent camps, spike camps  - depending on the game animal location.

DAILY TOUR DESCRIPTION

1^st Day- 2d Day. Arrival at the airport in Magadan. Transfer  to the place of hunt (by bus/car, boat, helicopter Mi-8). It will depend on the tour conditions;

 3d Day -  10 Day: Breakfast.  Hunt.

If there is a necessity to correct tour program of some days, it will be discussed with our clients.

11 Day. Preparation for departure.Final preservation of trophies and packing.    Helicopter  transfer toSeymchan or Omsukchan villages. Bus/car transfer to Magadan, accommodation in the hotel;

12 Day. Departure for Moscow.

CAMP PERSONNEL/FACILITIES

Camping accommodations include tents with a heater, generator, plank beds with blankets and rugs on the floor.
 Each tent can hold 2-3 hunters.

There will be a cook in the camp. We recommend you to inform us of your personal eating preferences and we will make every effort to provide you with customized service.

The main camp has a toilet, generator, sauna (Russian banya with a shower, wash-basin, mini-steamer), a dining room and a satellite telephone for worldwide communications.

In the spike camps light tents (4 season backpack tent) are used.

If you need other equipment such as sleeping bags, boots, snow shoes, raincoats etc., you may purchase everything in our KOLYMA-TRAVEL company store in Magadan.

KOLYMA-TRAVEL conducts tours using very spacious Zodiac class motor boats equipped with Yamaha engine. Each holds two hunters and two guides.

STAFF DUTIES

Staff consists of guides (1 guide per 1 hunter, a cook, camp worker, a supervisor is possible).

The supervisor (or a chief guide) will manage the hunting tour, distributing hunting directions to various areas. He will control trophy processing and be in contact with a KOLYMA-TRAVEL main office in Magadan. The supervisor (or a chief guide) will be responsible for your safety during the hunting tour. He will be responsible for first-aid. In addition he can also assume a guide's duties.

Each hunter will be accompanied by an experienced guide. Each guide has a minimum experience of 5 tours. He will provide the opportunity to bag a trophy moose or brown bear with a shot no bigger than 200 meters (220 yards). He will be responsible for your safety, photographing the trophy, trophy processing for taxidermy and shipment. The guide will remain with the hunter during the entire hunt.

The camp worker will keep the camp clean. The worker will be responsible for the wood, camp generator, communications facility, water and petrol. The worker will take care of servicing the tents, shower and banya.

The cook will serve three meals per day in the main camp. In the spike - camps food is prepared by a guide. Lunch boxes will be prepared daily for the hunters.
